At Fleming, cultural activities are very important. Art, in education, is a mechanism to develop potential to its maximum.  This is why we offer our students the opportunity to develop their artistic skills through music, dance and theater. At the same time art broadens the imagination and promotes flexible thinking which reinforces self confidence in students.

Art and Creativity

In Early Years it is of vital importance to awaken creativity. Children express themselves with their hands through painting, drawing or sculpting. [Early Years]

Cajon/Peruvian music box

Nowadays, the “cajón” or the Peruvian Music box has become so popular that is not just used within Andean Music but also with rock and ethnic music, among others. Playing the Cajon takes sensitivity to be able to find, not just the sound but also shades of sound. Our students will have the opportunity to learn how to play it and to form part of the Fleming College group of Cajoneros. [Primary]

Peruvian Dances
Students learn while playing, without any pressure or fear; little by little they acquire a good control of their body, they become identified with folklore, especially with marinera, the most representative dance of this country. As Peruvians we ought to learn how to dance it, with joy and spontaneity. During this year, children will learn to dance Marinera, Tondero and Huayno, typical dances of Peru. [Early Years]

National and International Dances
Dance is probably one of the oldest activities of humanity, it has been passed on from generation to generation and it has served to satisfy the necessity to liberate feelings and to shape ideas that can be transmitted by the body. The objective of the dance workshop, besides making students more sensitive, is to develop their rhythmic capacity and ability to promote attitudes that will let them appreciate and enjoy Peruvian dances and give them an overview of international dances. [Primary]

Motor Stimulation with a Ball
Both early stimulation and psycho motor development are very important. Children´s development will depend greatly on the amount of stimulation received during a child´s early years together with our patience and care. [Early Years]

Through this workshop children will receive stimulation and a space for creative playing. Different exercise presented will help develop their psycho motor skills: race with obstacles, ball games, different jumps combinations, throws, etc. [Early Years]

Artistic disciplines are part of a well rounded education which also involves the development of cognitive, motor skills, and affective areas. [Primary] [Secondary]

Handcraft with recyclable material
Recycle and reusing things is good for the environment and is also a necessity in our times; done with creativity, it could be even more satisfying. In this workshop we will share creative ideas to recycle new materials. [Early Years][Primary]

Tae Kwon Do
The Tae Kwon Do workshop has the objective of exercising concentration and discipline, creating habits that will help the child even in his academic development. It promotes values such as respect, understanding, personal control and a better attitude towards others. Even more important it enhances confidence and security in different circumstances of life. [Early Years] [Primary]

It is based on expression through acting, the discovery of communication, exploration of movement and word. Development of this program stimulates oral and corporal skills. Being part of this workshop allows students to participate from a casting and to play a role within the annual school show. [Primary]

Pre School Literacy in Spanish
Learning to read and write for preschool children is an important process. We make sure that it is enjoyable and adapted to each student, encouraging them to actively participate and build their own personalised experience. [Early Years]
