Voluntary Silent Reading Programme

Reading plays a meaningful role in the overall development of competencies and language skills, mastery of all kinds of knowledge, and in leading a healthy lifestyle. That is why, since 2004, and in addition to the existing scheme in both Spanish and English classes, we have been highly committed to promoting a reading culture through an attractive activity across the school. It is the Voluntary Silent Reading Programme which takes place every morning in classrooms.

Students and tutors bring a book choice of their own, which could be lengthy or short, in English or Spanish, and engage in twenty minutes of independent and quiet reading for pleasure. The impact has been quite successful so far: more students engaged in recreational reading after school, improvement in achievement tests, among other benefits. benefits.
